Song of the woods

Are your holidays over?

For some people, back to school is here!

I hope you were able to recharge your batteries with family and friends. The weather may have been better for some, but I hope you were able to relax.

Autumn is approaching

So, as the days are as pleasant as ever, we're taking advantage of them to go hiking at weekends or even during the week.

The trails in the Alpes Mancelles are numerous, even very numerous. But you can also discover the trails on the outskirts of the area, where you can wander through the forests, smell the deciduous trees, the fir trees, meet roe deer, stags and hinds and hear the bellowing at nightfall!

Some forestry areas to discover

  • The forest of Pail (2737 hectares) is famous for its lookout point, which stands on the edge of the forest. the highest in the Armorican massif and the far west. Once you've climbed the 185 metres, you'll have a panoramic view of up to 60 km. Don't blow-dry!
  • The forest of Sillé-le-Guillaume (3500 ha) is best known for its 40-hectare Coco plage lake, where you can swim in the fine sand, pedal-boat, windsurf, zip-line and enjoy the shade. Ideal for hot summer days! A number of facilities have also been created for hiking departures. Watch out for the Cerf jump!
  • The Perseigne forest (5000 hectares), my favourite because it's close to my home village, is famous for seeing everything Louze.

It consists mainly of deciduous trees, has a lookout point and is surrounded by a multitude of footpaths.

I invite you to come and explore them, they are all mysterious and magnificent, especially when a stream runs through them.

And what do we do on the farm at this time of year?

The meadows are riddled with brambles and are bearing fruit, and frosts are the order of the day. Then it's pruning time!

The water-logged meadows, warmed by a little heat, bring out the mushrooms and small roses. So pick them in the morning when you visit the cows.

Don't forget to bring your aprons - maybe you'll feel like cooking when you come to the gîte!
